What's a Rangeroo?
That's a good question. Rangeroo is actually a nickname I gave
to Ranger, my first dog. Oh, such a handsome fellow. He was
a buff colored cocker spaniel with the most agreeable temperament you
could ever ask for. He was fun-loving, goofy, and powered by
cheese in any form. In fact, I bribed him with
"Want some cheese?" so often that Jake, a friend who was four at the
time, actually thought his name was Cheese. I still laugh when I
think of Jake clapping his hands and hollering "Here Cheese, come on
Cheese!"
Ranger was my first rescue; I was his third home. I
remember being very suspicious when Beth dropped him off, thinking
"What's so wrong with this dog that two families have decided not to
keep him?" I watched him very carefully and finally
discovered what
was wrong with him: nothing at all. I don't know why these
families had a change of heart - maybe they didn't think it through on
the front end, maybe they ran into hard times and felt the best they
could do for him was to find a family who could provide for him, or
maybe they were just foolish. All I know is Ranger was in the wrong
place at the wrong time - until he came my house, where he rolled in
clover till the day he died.
Anyway,
when I started making bandanas for Cocker Spaniel rescue Rangeroo came
to mind, so that's what I put on the labels. Then I started making
dog biscuits, too, which of course led into another project . . . and
here we are today, with dog accessories, treats, video clips and now
even a web page. Ranger started me on this path, so it seems right
to name it after him.
Here's to you, Rangeroo - thanks for the love and inspiration!
